New Reads: August 2017 #amreading #bookreviews

HELLO READERS!

I am currently writing August’s monthly book picks in July. I just finished writing July and will be away towards the end of July to write this month’s picks. I also gave you a sneak peek into my August reads. We have my Book Club pick, plus other reads for this month. I know it looks ambitious, but I really do hope to get started on some of these in July. A couple of these have been sitting on my TBR and currently reading pile for a couple of months now.

I just got back from vacation and am probably super tan and relaxed. Except maybe a week off of work was not such a bright idea. We actually can get super busy summer. I may be playing catch up for a couple of days. So I may have delved a little too much into my TBR pile while I was on vacation. Two of the books I originally had on this post, I actually read at the pool. See previous post about End of July Reads and my thoughts.

The Taking by Kimberly Derting (Book Club Pick)

The Taking Kimberly Derting

PRE-READ:   I haven’t actually formed an opinion on this book yet. I don’t pick out the books for this book club. The hostess usually finds her books at Target and reads the synopsis and lets us know about a month ahead of time to get our book. It does seem interesting. But nothing will take the place of our beloved Caraval.

Dark Matter by Blake Crouch

PRE-READ:  Amazon opened a book store in NYC a while back. I was so excited that I walked the 45 minutess to go there and look at the books. If you are a prime member, you get the books at their prime prices (SCORE!). I heard a lot of great things about this book and am really quite excited to read it.

Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake

PRE-READ:  So, at the Amazon book store, I picked up a couple of books and this was one of them. It was structured weird and it took me almost 20 minutes to find the young adult section in the store. This series seems very promising and cannot wait to start.

The Bone Witch by Ruin Chupeco

PRE-READ:  This is one of the free books I received off of NetGalley and have yet to finish reading it. I don’t know why. It was something I was really interested in reading. It’s just hard in the summertime to read Kindle books because my free time is at the beach. I read my kindle books on my iPad. iPad + sun + beach = no bueno. That’s why I stick to actual books in the summertime. #easyreading.

Sneak peak into September books:

  • A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas
  • Tower of Dawn by Sarah J Maas (release date: September 5, 2017)
  • Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
  • All the Ugly and Wonderful Things by Bryn Greenwood
